Few things beat getting home after a long day out and catching a delicious, soothing scent permeating your entire house. Imagine what it would be like if your home smelled of wild rose, sweet jasmine, fresh lavender, or any of a dozen other highly pleasant scents.
This is what scented room sachets can do, and it is the reason why they should be a staple of any house. But, how do you use scented room sachets?

How To Use Scented Room Sachets
Scented room sachets can be used in many different ways.
The most obvious of these is to use scented room sachets to make your clothes and linen closets smell wonderful. You can tie a scented room sachet to some of your clothes hangers, or stick them in your drawers to keep your clean clothes smelling fresh and clean at all times.
Scented room sachets can also be used to deodorize smelly diaper pails. If you have kids that are of a diaper-wearing age, then you know exactly how bad the smell of diaper pails can get.
Scented room sachets can help to minimize the stink of poopy diapers by providing a continuous source of aromatic scents. Simply stick a scented room sachet inside the interior lining of your pail and you’ll notice the improvement immediately.
Following the same principle, you can use scented room sachets to manage the smell of kitchen garbage bins. Every day lots of peels, shells, and other types of wet, sticky, and oily food scraps get thrown into these containers, and even if you are diligent about taking out the trash, it is very common to have to deal with less than pleasant garbage odors. But, if you stick a fragrant scented room sachet inside your kitchen garbage bin, you can keep bad odors under control.
You can even use them to help you sleep better or take a relaxing bath. Many fragrances can help your body relax, so if you take a jasmine or lavender-scented room sachet, and place it underneath your pillow or next to your bathtub as you take a bath to unwind, you can promote relaxation and good sleep.

My favorites are their Scented Magnolia sachet, which reminds me of breezy summer afternoons, and their super cozy Driftwood Tides sachet.

How Do You Use A Bridgewater Scented Sachet?
You use a Bridgewater sachet the same way as any other scented sachet. Just take the sachet, give it a shake and place it where you want the fragrance to be strongest in your home.
Bridgwater scented sachets are pretty enough to be left on display just about anywhere, or you can keep the sachet in a closet or desk drawer so it is out of the way. The smell will still permeate throughout the home. I like to keep mine close to the main entrance so that I get a nice fresh whiff of home every time I walk through the door.
How To Make a Homemade Scented Sachet
If you are the DIY type and would like to have more control over the aroma of your home, you can always make your very own, homemade scented room sachets. It’s far easier than you think.
The first thing you need to do is get your hands on some baggies for your sachets. Just make sure that the fabric is not too thick so as not to impede the aroma from diffusing out. The best fabrics are cotton, silk, and hemp.
I like to add a strip of velcro for the ultimate convenience. This allows you to future-proof the sachet and makes refilling it super easy. And for extra convenience sew a ribbon into the seam so it can be hung up with ease.
The next thing you need to think about is what you’re going to put inside your sachet.
You can fill your sachets with a combination of scented wax, essential oils, seeds, flowers, herbs, and different fragrant plants such as lavender, rosebuds, bay leaves, etc. You can also add dried fruits like apples and pears, and spices like cinnamon, clover, star anise, etc.
In my personal experience, designing your very own personal scent is tons of fun and highly rewarding. They also make great gifts. You can use custom fabrics and smells tailored to the person receiving the gift.
You can use your homemade scented room sachets as an air freshener all over your home. They will last anywhere between 9 months to a year, and if you notice that they lose their intensity, simply put them in the sun for a while and let the gentle heat reactivate the natural aromas.
